Mobile Health Clinic will be at Bluffton Public Library on Fri., Oct. 28 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. (New time!) - All services are provided by individuals with the Ohio Northern University Healthwise program. This clinic includes free screenings for blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol (please fast for 12 hours to participate in cholesterol or blood sugar screening) and osteoporosis. Participants may speak with ONU Healthwise students and staff about their results or concerns, and even receive referrals to area doctors.
Coming of Age in the 1950s and 60s (R) with author Barbara Lockard and her sister Karen Striet on Tuesday, October 25 at 12:00 p.m. Findlay, Ohio resident Barbara Lockard spent the Year of the Pandemic writing on her blog, “Old and Slow and Turning White”.
Watercolor Workshop: Sunflower will be held Thurs., Oct. 20 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. Local artist Jeanne Beutler will teach on the lower level of the library. Walk away with your own watercolor piece of art, complete with mat! There is a $10 supply fee at the door (cash only please), and advance registration is required as space is limited. Open to adults and teens/children (with a participating adult).
NEW! Galley Book Group will meet in person on Wed., Oct. 19 at 12:00 to discuss the advanced reader (galley) version of Locust Lane by Stephen Amidon, slated for publication in January 2023. This is a new discussion group, and will be held as new galleys become available. The group will receive the book in advance, read it, meet to discuss, and then a feedback survey will be filled out and sent to the publisher. Limited copies of the book are available.
If Bluffton is a Swiss Community, Where are the Mountains? presented by Fred Steiner (R) on Monday, Oct. 17 @ 6:00 p.m. Fred takes you on a photographic journey to the Bluffton area as it was settled by immigrants in the 1830s. Presentation will cover Bluffton's Swiss heritage and the settlement that encompassed most of the rural area between Bluffton, Pandora, Columbus Grove and Beaverdam. Our Swiss immigrants were primarily farmers.
Medicare 101 (R) - Allen County Council on Aging will present Medicare 101 on Tuesday, Oct. 11 at 6:00 p.m. at Bluffton Public Library. There will be time for questions after the presentation, and participants can find out about other services offered by the Allen County Council on Aging. To ensure adequate seating, please stop by the library or call 419-358-5016 to register.
